Gavin was born in Harlow, Essex in August 1973. He achieved a Mathematics degree from Loughborough University in 1994. He trained at a 4 partner firm Giess Wallis Crisp in Harlow where he qualified as an ACCA (Association of chartered certified accountants). He moved to Surrey in 2004, where he has worked for several practice firms in the Ascot area, before moving to Exceed in Englefield Green. He has a varied accounting background including year end accounts, monthly management accounts, personal and corporate taxation, vat and auditing. He joined Exceed in April 2010.

Gavin is married to Anna, who is a Manager in Education. He regularly plays rugby for Chobham RFC and also enjoys going to the theatre, music, travel and gardening.
